Dear Helen Gorman Parent Community,

Thank you for being such a wonderful parent community. In the conversations that I have had with families, I have  been so appreciative for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we re‐imagining learning for your children.  Our staff have been happy to reconnect with their students. Our teachers' focus this week is to build routines, help  students used to their new remote learning environment, and introduce some introductory learning. Everyone at  Helen Gorman Elementary School misses you and your children. We hope that you and your family are well and  able to be safe and healthy.

Picking Up Your Child's Belongings

In order to ensure that we are complying with the Public Health Authority's instructions concerning social  distancing, we have set up an online booking system to coordinate pickup. The reason that we have chosen this  system is to ensure everyone's safety by reducing the possibility that there will be large crowds at the school. We  apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Here is how it works:

1. Go to the Helen Gorman Elementary Online Booking System Website (see link below). The link also can be  found on our school website.

2. Select an available day and time that fits your schedule. Currently, we are scheduling pick up from 8:30am‐ 4:00pm on April 8th and April 9th as well as April 14th‐17th. If necessary, we will open more time pick up  time slots on future dates.

3. Please enter your child's name (or children's names) in the "Notes" section.

4. On your pickup date and time, drive your vehicle through the school roundabout. A staff member will be  at a table out front to find and check off your child's name from a list. Another staff member will go into  the school and retrieve your child's belongings from the building.

5. We will maintain the Public Health Authority's instruction for 2 meter social distancing by either placing  your child's belongings on a table for you to take OR placing the items in the cargo area of your vehicle (ie,  the box of a truck). We understand that each situation will be different depending on individual families  and vehicle type. Thank you for working with us to ensure the safety of your family and the Helen Gorman  Elementary staff.

6. If your child has a library book which needs to be returned to the school, there will be a drop box  available.

If you have any questions about the booking system, or you feel that you have a unique situation, please contact  Mrs. Dornian by phone at 250-870-5116 or by email at shelley.dornian@sd23.bc.ca so that we can help you .

All the best,

Rob Aviani

Principal
