Principal’s Message

July 12, 2022

Hello Helen Gorman Families –

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the new Principal of Helen Gorman Elementary School. I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team. I have had the honour of being a school leader in the role of vice principal since 2011 working at the schools of École Glenmore Elementary, École George Pringle Elementary, Rutland Elementary and most recently, École KLO Middle. I first joined our district in 2005, teaching grade 1 at Chief Tomat Elementary and Ellison Elementary before journeying into supporting schools in an administrative team.

The school of Helen Gorman Elementary is a hidden gem up in the mountains with a great network of connections. I look forward to carrying on the vision and exceptional work that the students, staff and community have already built through their shared belief that, "learning is a lifelong journey of curiosity, risk taking and growth embedded within our foundational skills. Deeper learning happens through connection, perseverance, and reflection."

I have roots in Whitehorse, Yukon and grew up in Kelowna on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People enjoying the four seasons. As a family of four, my husband and I, along with our two children have grounded ourselves in West Kelowna. I am so looking forward to meeting you all to learn of your story to better understand what is important to this community and most importantly for your children.

Warmly,
Mrs. Jessica Anjos
