| This month, our staff took the time to look at some data and evidence to help us understand how we are doing towards achieving our areas of focus. We looked at several pieces of evidence, including: PM Benchmark Data (indicates student reading level). This graph shows that 74% of our students are meeting expectations in reading. It also breaks down achievement based on gender, Indigenous ancestry, and students with special needs. The number of students who meet expectations in reading actually has decreased by 4-5% from pre-pandemic levels. Continuing to support student reading is one of our ongoing priorities.
School Wide Write Data (indicates student writing level). This graph shows that 78% of HGE student meet, fully meet, or exceed expectations in writing. Interestingly, this number has remained consistent throughout the pandemic.
School Learning Survey (a Ministry survey which tells us about our students experience at school). The School Learning Survey asks students questions about the school climate and relationships as well as how and what they are learning at school. This graph shows that 65% of grade 4 students feel that they are positively progressing in math.
