Dear Helen Gorman Families,
As I begin my fourth year as Principal of Helen Gorman Elementary, I remain deeply honoured to serve this vibrant school community. It continues to be a privilege to work alongside our dedicated staff as we support and guide our learners through a journey of inclusive, connected, and respectful learning.
Helen Gorman truly is a hidden gem tucked into the hills, home to a strong, supportive network and an unwavering commitment to student success. Our team believes deeply in the power of community. We know it takes a village to nurture a strong sense of identity, belonging, and confidence in our students. We strive to create a learning environment that celebrates diversity as a strength and supports every learner to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are committed to building an innovative, inclusive culture of learning rooted in our shared belief that “learning is a lifelong journey of curiosity, risk-taking, and growth, embedded within foundational skills. Deeper learning happens through connection, perseverance, and reflection.” This belief continues to guide and inspire our work.
I carry with me the influence of both the Kwanlin Dün First Nation traditional territory, where I have family roots, and the Syilx (Okanagan) territory, where I grew up. Now rooted in West Kelowna with my husband and two children, I feel fortunate to live and lead in this beautiful community.
We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to continuing to partner with families in support of our learners. If you have any questions or thoughts to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help every step of the way.
Warmly,
Mrs. Jessica Anjos
